The Turkey Trot of Business
Featuring Anderson Mobile Grooming’s Expansion Story
As the leaves turn and Thanksgiving approaches, we’re reminded that success, much like a turkey trot, isn’t about sprinting to the finish line. It’s about steady strides, consistent effort, and celebrating every small milestone along the way.
At Blue Co Warehousing, we see that “slow and steady” mindset in so many of the entrepreneurs we work with businesses that grow with intention, care, and community at heart.
Anderson Mobile Grooming is a local business that recently expanded into North Charlotte with Blue Co’s help. Their journey shows how patience, planning, and partnerships drive meaningful growth.
From One Van to a Growing Brand
Anderson Mobile Grooming began with a simple mission: to make pet care easier, more convenient, and less stressful for pets and their owners. What started as a single grooming van serving a few local clients quickly grew into a loyal customer base across the community.
“Anderson Mobile Grooming started with one van serving the Charlotte Metro area in December 2024. As demand grew, we kept adding service days until we were booked out several weeks in advance. Eventually, we were turning customers away, which was a great problem to have. That’s when we decided to launch a second van and expand north of Charlotte. The response has been incredible, and we’ve seen strong growth right from the start.”
Their growth followed a clear vision and a strong sense of what customers value most.
“I studied finance in college and spent about eight years working in the mortgage industry. It was a stable career, but I always had that itch to build something of my own.
With some encouragement from my wife, I started exploring business ideas. Growing up, my best friend’s mom was a mobile groomer, and later, my cousin started a similar business even though he wasn’t a groomer himself. Once I ran the numbers and saw the potential, it clicked.
We launched Anderson Mobile Grooming about 10 months ago to make grooming more convenient and stress-free for pets and their owners. We focus on one-on-one grooming, transparent pricing, and reliable service, showing up on time and keeping our word. That’s the foundation of how we operate, both as parents and as business owners.
We’ve grown faster than expected, thanks to word of mouth and repeat customers. Our goal is to expand to five or more vans over the next five years.”
Taking the Next Step — One Careful Stride at a Time
Expansion posed challenges of logistics, storage, and scheduling. Anderson Mobile Grooming stayed focused on maintaining quality while growing.
“Definitely. Expansion always comes with risk, especially when your business supports your family. But my wife and I are both data-driven, so we take calculated risks. Before adding a new van, we do market research and make sure we have great groomers lined up. We prioritize their experience just as much as customer demand, and that balance is part of what makes our service stand out.”
Even with uncertainty, their drive to keep improving pushed them forward.
“Every new stage of growth comes with its challenges, from hiring and scheduling to logistics and marketing. But what has kept us moving forward is our belief that we can figure things out together.
We spent the first few months ironing out all the details, from setting grooming standards and refining our booking process to finding reliable maintenance partners for our vans. Once we got those systems running smoothly, we realized we had something that was not only working but scalable.
There are definitely long days, but there’s also nothing more rewarding than seeing customers light up when their dog hops out of the van freshly groomed. Those small moments keep us motivated. As husband-and-wife business owners, it’s been really fun (and sometimes hilarious) to navigate everything together. We’ve learned to lean on each other’s strengths and celebrate the wins, big and small.”
That thoughtful, step-by-step approach is what makes their success sustainable.
Partnering for Growth
At Blue Co, our mission is to give businesses like Anderson Mobile Grooming the foundation they need to thrive, whether that’s storage, workspace, or logistical support. For Anderson Mobile Grooming, this meant having the right warehouse setup to organize supplies efficiently and launch new routes seamlessly.
“We’re big believers in efficiency and convenience, not just for our customers but for ourselves too. When we found Blue Co, it immediately stood out because it was more than just a parking spot for our vans. It was a place designed for small business owners who are growing and need flexibility. From secure storage and accessible office space to the ability to customize how we use the space, Blue Co checked all the boxes. Plus, we love being around other entrepreneurs. There’s an energy in that kind of community that keeps you inspired. Everyone’s rooting for each other, and that’s a great environment to be in when you’re building something from the ground up.”
Their experience at Blue Co has been a key part of keeping that momentum going.
“Five stars, without question! Our experience has been awesome from day one. Gianna, our community manager, has gone above and beyond, whether it’s helping with logistics, getting paperwork handled quickly, or just checking in to see how things are going.
It’s rare to find a space that feels professional and welcoming at the same time, but Blue Co has nailed that balance. It’s made running our operations smoother, and we genuinely feel like we’re part of a community of people who understand what it takes to run a small business. That kind of support has made a huge difference for us.”
Anderson also credits their success to their strong community ties and early supporters.
“Starting a small business takes a village. Family and friends play a huge role. In our case, I wouldn’t have taken the leap without my wife’s encouragement.
When we launched, we offered free grooms to family and friends in exchange for honest Google reviews. It helped us fine-tune our process, test our equipment, and get comfortable before serving paying customers. Those early reviews and referrals were priceless because they gave us momentum and credibility.
As we grow, I’m looking forward to deepening our community roots and giving back to the same people who helped us get started.”
Gratitude and Growth
As Thanksgiving approaches, Anderson Mobile Grooming says they have plenty to be grateful for: loyal customers, a hardworking team, and the ability to keep serving more pets in more communities.
“This holiday season, we’re especially thankful for the people who make this business possible: our family, our incredible customers, and our hardworking groomers.
Our groomers are the heart of the company. They treat every dog with care and professionalism, and they’re the reason our customers keep coming back. We’re also so grateful for our customers who’ve trusted us with their pets, shared our name with friends, and cheered us on as we’ve grown.
And of course, family is everything. Running a small business while raising kids isn’t always easy, but it’s been amazing to see our family grow right alongside the business. This time of year reminds us how far we’ve come and how much we have to be thankful for.”
And as they look ahead, their sights are set on even bigger goals.
“We’re proud of the culture we’ve built, one where groomers love what they do and want to grow with us. Looking ahead, we’re excited to expand beyond North Carolina and bring our personalized, high-quality service to new communities.”
